Wenling CAO (Grace)

I am a PhD candidate from Department of Language and Linguistic Science at University of York in the UK. My research interest is short-term phonetic convergence between non-native speakers and native speakers of English. Basically, I look at how non-native English speakers change their accents after speaking to a native speaker for 1 hour.

I am also interested in language attitudes towards British English and American English, and how learners' attitudes affect their convergence towards native accents.

My current study mainly focuses on sociophonetics, but I am also interested in psycholinguistcs, language processing, language identity and forensic phonetics.
